About the job:
In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Scheduling Systems Education Specialist is responsible for providing a range of education, planning, instruction and support to patient scheduling staff.
Typical duties and responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains educational materials and course curriculums tailored to support administrative and clinical staff on the recommended use of patient scheduling systems by performing duties such as:
- Liaising with vendors and collaborating with other Interior Health Teams to create and/or update end user training materials.
- Developing course content and training schedules using a variety of tools and programs delivered through various mediums.
- Plans, organizes, and delivers virtual and inperson, oneonone and group training/educational sessions on the recommended use of clinical information systems relevant to patient scheduling services in accordance with adult learning principals by performing duties such as:
- Communicating and collaborating with clinic management and staff on training needs and training schedules.
- Liaising with designated users to understand training needs/requirements.
- Leveraging Digital Health Patient Scheduling Team skill sets to assist with the delivery of education to end users as required.
- Supports the adoption and implementation of recommended patient scheduling workflows by performing technical demonstrations and providing ongoing training and support tailored to end users in a variety of program areas. Refers issues as required to analysts, operational teams and/or appropriate resource person in accordance with established guidelines.
- Provides coaching and facilitation support to improve office and clinical workflow efficiencies through the optimized use of relevant clinical information systems based on the individual needs of a clinic or program area. Identifies workflow challenges and recommends possible solutions or resources to improve efficiencies such as the use of templates, letters and reports.
- Supports the adoption of best practices and supports continuous quality improvement.
- This position will be required to travel in accordance with IH policies, to various IH sites to deliver education programs and consult with end users as required/directed. A moderate to extensive travel requirement is expected.
- Provides input into the development of department standards, methods and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, completion of a recognized two (2) year diploma program in adult learning/education or computer systems technology, plus two (2) years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Ability to deal with others effectively.

- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
