Detailed Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Program, the position participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team, assists in the planning and implementation of support services and social/recreational programs, and provides supportive counselling within established guidelines


Responsibilities:

  • Assists staff in planning and implementing social, recreational and vocational activities and groups for clients.
  • Assists clinical staff in the planning and implementation of psychoeducational and lifeskills groups as required.
  • Contributes to staff clinical rounds and shares pertinent information and observations with the EPI Central Team and EPI Clinicians, as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provides onetoone supportive counselling to clients by methods such as problem solving, deescalation techniques, and activityfocused interventions.
  • Records behavioural observations and interventions according to guidelines.
  • Attends staff and multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision meetings as required.
  • Attends related inservice education programs as requested to maintain a high standard of knowledge.
  • Provides clients with transportation and accompaniment to and from group, work sites, educational institutions, recreational events, training events, and appointments.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience
Degree in Social Sciences or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid B.C. Class V Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business purposes.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with adolescents with mental health/psychiatric issues.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
