Volker Stevin Highways is seeking an experienced
Bridge Worker. A
Bridge Worker is a skilled bridge/construction worker involved with the maintenance and construction of bridge structures and other types of related infrastructure. The work involves a wide variety of activities using numerous tools, equipment, and materials.

General Responsibilities:

Operate and perform minor maintenance on equipment such as jackhammers, drills, chainsaws, tampers, sandblasters, and concrete vibrators.
Work on the structural steel and concrete components of bridges, and assist in bridge washing, cleaning, painting, sandblasting, sealing, grouting, placing structural concrete, etc.
Handle various toxic products such as epoxies, grouts, sealers, paints, thinners, and cleaners.
Assist in work site set up, maintenance, and clean up, including scaffolding construction and dismantling, barricade locating, and equipment locating.
Work with a variety of new and salvage materials ensuring optimum usage.
Inspect and maintain the vehicles, tools and equipment that are used to ensure Company standards are met, and promptly report any possible problems or defects.
Load and unload materials from trucks.
Perform flagman duties.

Perform other related duties as required.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Valid Class 5 driver's license; a clean driver's abstract.
3 years of experience with Bridge Work or Construction.
Experience in heavy civil construction.
Knowledge of fabricating, building, and removing formwork and falsework including installation of embedded metals
Experience placing, consolidating, finishing, and curing concrete for all types of structural elements in all weather conditions
Outoftown and weekend work will be required.
