Digger Derrick Operators assist with a variety of installation, maintenance and repair projects involving street lights, traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers, signage, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices.

Operators are an important part of our 3-5 persons crews and work year round Monday to Friday, 40+ hour weeks with opportunities for overtime.

Expect periodic out of town and night shift assignments.

To thrive in this role you must be a hard-working individual with exposure to the construction industry, can show up on time everyday and work in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and effective operations of equipment such as digger derricks, bucket trucks, skid steers, mini excavators, pulling trailers, rigging for lifts etc.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance and mechanical checks.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines at all times, ensuring your safety and the safety of your team members and the public
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This includes removing debris, organizing materials, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed such as pulling wire, pouring concrete bases, unloading materials etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to adapt to changes in assignments and priorities in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability
  • Experience operating in urban environments
  • Ability to maintaining high levels of productivity and able to work long hours when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to perform duties in inclement and adverse weather conditions
  • Knowledge of DOT restrictions and regulations
  • Knowledge of OH&S Acts and Legislation

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with a minimum 2 years related experience operating equipment
  • Valid Alberta Class 3Q driver's license and submission of a 5year Driver's Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Industry courses in equipment operating is considered an asset
  • Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Aerial Work Platform are assets
