Position Description
At the Parks Foundation, we know that parks will always matter to Calgarians. We are seeking an experienced non-profit professional who is passionate about helping Calgary's communities.
Parks Foundation is implementing a new Equity Strategy, which seeks to address the gap in green spaces in Calgary by providing additional resources and bolstered programs to increase the number of outdoor park and sport spaces that are built in Calgary.
We do this by supporting local groups to build their own capacity to successfully build green spaces that benefit members of their community.
The Community Equity Coordinator will identify and support 5 equity-deserving communities each year to create a new park or sport space in Calgary, by leading the project from concept to construction.
Responsibilities
- Identify and support 5 equitydeserving groups to begin capital construction projects each year
- Provide handson support to 5 community partners throughout the project including:
- Project identification and assessment of community needs
- Contractor procurement
- Full project fundraising including creating a fundraising plan, grant writing, developing fundraising materials and meeting with donors as needed
- Ensure accounting services are provided to the project
- Project management of the construction process
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from The City of Calgary/landowner
- Ensure successful completion of projects
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in nonprofit, business, social work or related field
- Min. 3 years experience in a nonprofit organization
- Experience in the process of fundraising, procurement and construction management of outdoor parks and sport spaces will be considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including a second language
- Experience using fundraising databases (e.g. eTapestry, Raisers Edge) is preferred
Other
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by identifying growth needs and engaging in educational opportunities as available and approved by management
- Contributes to a collaborative team culture by offering to help colleagues where and when needed
- Complies with all Parks Foundation Calgary policies and procedures, as may be amended from time to time
- Completes other duties as assigned
- Must have access to a vehicle and current valid driver's license
Hours and Salary
Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 4:00 with a 30 minute lunch break
Occasionally, workload or events may necessitate work outside these regular hours, on evenings or weekends.
Pay range for this position is $55,000-$65,000.
