Overview:


The RMX Technology Lead is an embedded role within our operations that is central to accelerating innovation and digitization in our manufacturing and logistics activities within our RMX product line.

It is also critical to the ongoing, daily operations of our plants, fleets, and Dispatches.


This role is expected to support a broader movement to differentiate the Lafarge Ready Mix Concrete organization, within a competitive industry, and to complement the shift of Lafarge's concrete to the center of a sustainable approach to building.


Responsibilities:


Impacts and Ambitions

  • Safety as a Culture; This role will help find ways to transform the Safety culture of Lafarge RMX into a tangible benefit for our customers that is viewed as part of our offer. Safety is an embedded service to our clients.
  • The Technology Lead is a critical role in the RMX Performance Team to identify technologies or digital opportunities and directly participate in planning, preparations, and then physical implementation into all business locations. This includes potential acquisitions and related growth based activity.
  • To do this effectively, the Technology Lead is an active participant in managing current operational systems to the extent that this role can both identify opportunities as well as implement solutions.
  • To be effective in the role, ongoing, positive and constructive relationships with supporting vendors, internal IT teams, digital teams, and front line staff are a critical success factor.

Within Ecosystems

  • Reports to the Production Manager, Ready Mix Performance for Western Canada.
  • Works closely with;
  • Plant Operators and CCLC (Customer Care and Logistics Centre) Managers.
  • Project Manager, Manufacturing Excellence, Western Canada
  • RMX Fleet and Driver Training Manager
  • All RMX
  • Operations Managers, Concrete Direct Leadership, Command Alkon, Marcotte, and Lafarge IT FLS Leads.
  • Expected to work closely on topics that may include data management, interfaces, and architecture as well as be able to work directly in plants with operators.
  • Works closely with Western Canada Innovation Hub when technology and digital projects combine RMX production and delivery with Customer facing QA and Innovative Product efforts.
  • Is actively involved with our Digital Solutions portfolio and Concrete Direct team with a goal to shift Lafarge Concrete's digital path to becoming an industry platform for customers and designers in ways not previously considered.
  • Is part of a new approach to identify manufacturing and logistics opportunities and/or participate in pilot activities with Group level resources or partnering with other RMX countries.
  • The full scope of technologies impacts our; plant operations, batching processes, logistics activities and management, customer facing tools, and even safety systems such as IVMS within the fleet.

Qualifications:

Education & Work Experience

  • Postsecondary degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering and / or Computer Science.
  • Experience in industrial work environments through employment or cooperative programs with postsecondary institutions.
  • Work experience in manufacturing, processing, or extraction industries is an advantage.
