Position Description

McGill's Department of Medicine is a leader in academic medicine. Our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. St. Mary's Hospital is a McGill University-affiliated community hospital located in the Notre-Dame de Grace-Côte-des-Neiges borough. It serves an ethnically diverse community with one of the oldest populations in Montreal. It is a part of the CIUSSS l'Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal. Other participating centres with Geriatrics Medicine in this integrated centre include Lakeshore General Hospital and Ste. Anne's Hospital.

The division has an active consultation service, an inpatient assessment unit, and an outpatient clinic.

Currently, the division includes four Internal Medicine/Geriatric Medicine specialists, three Family Medicine/Care of the elderly trained physicians, and a nurse practitioner.


It is an active geriatric teaching site:

over 40 medical students, 30 family medicine residents, residents in the specialized Geriatric medicine Training program and nurse practitioners are welcomed annually.


The services and multidisciplinary teams of the Division will be expanded in the coming years to better serve older adults through the Elderly Friendly Hospital Program and the Emergency department.

Co-management models are in development with pre-op management, orthopedics, and oncology.

  • Our career path definitions specify typical ranges of time allotted to clinical work, teaching (clinical and didactic), research and administration.
The Division has a long history of contributing to the Department of Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital and rotations on the Internal Medicine teaching and care units will be expected. Program development with the establishment of post fracture osteosarcopenia management will also be an integral part of the position.


McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.

Qualifications and Education Requirements- At least one additional year of clinical training in a particular field related to Geriatric Medicine is required;Faculty/Department/Unit: Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine
