Rotation/Shifts:

Days, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements:

Master's Degree in Psychology or Social Work;
Current registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario OR current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers;
Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in a multidisciplinary mental health setting;
Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge of mental illnesses, intervention approaches, especially crisis intervention with persons experiencing a mental health crisis;
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
Ability to educate and provide consultation to clients/patients, families, police partners and allied healthcare professionals;
Ability to make effective referrals, reflecting in depth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with TOH departments, police officers and other community partners;
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation;
Proven ability to assess, plan, prioritize, organize, implement, evaluate and problem solve;
Proven ability to exercise mature, effective judgment and behaviour in emergency situations and to work as part of an interdisciplinary team;
Ability to develop, coordinate and deliver inservices, presentations;
Proven ability to be organized and demonstrated excellent documentation practices;
Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including Windowsbased programs;
Possession of a valid driver's license and access to own automobile;
Completion of a criminal records check, with results acceptable to the Ottawa Hospital;
Eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
