Position Title

  • Scholarly Research Technician (Mapping Project)
    Position Summary
  • We are currently seeking applicants for the following research project:


  • RDLIP

  • Anti Racism Asset Mapping Project
  • Choon-Lee Chai.
  • The Office of Research and Scholarship supports faculty and staff across the Polytechnic in their research and scholarly activities. Scholarly Research Technicians act as research assistants to faculty/staff members engaged in specific scholarly research projects by performing tasks related to the project, such as data entry and analysis, gathering bibliographic information, conducting tests and experiments, loading, unloading, monitoring and maintaining equipment, preparing solutions and monitoring inventories. Research project grant funding and the design of each specific project may dictate additional tasks and job requirements.
    Position Responsibilities


  • Research Support

  • Assists with literature searches
  • Assists with the collection and reporting of data
  • Transcribes interviews
  • Assists with the maintenance of databases and data collection forms
  • Ensures that all research materials are handled in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Assists with gathering and compiling of information required for the preparation of papers, abstracts, etc.
  • Participates in research project meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a oneyear college certificate, or equivalent
  • Exemplary interpersonal, motivational, organizational, and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as an effective member of a team
  • Demonstrated experience writing and preparing a variety of project materials (e.g. presentations, reports)
  • Demonstrated ability to search and review literature and to critically appraise and interpret published materials
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of study data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in writing social science literature review and research proposal

  • An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
