Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Operations, the Associate Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of their area through staff supervision and workflow organisation.
They will work closely with the team to report area metrics, fulfil SLA's requirements, and drive continuous improvement in operational processes.
The Associate Manager will have complete functional process responsibility within the distribution center on a specified shift.Responsibilities
Workflow organization (40%)
- Manage a safe, organized and clean work environment following 5S
- Lead the adherence to health and safety procedures within the department
- Provide direction and leadership to the team to manage daily work workflow and ensure compliance to all operation metrics and service level agreements
- Own departmental performance indicators for respective processes
- Maintain and improve the knowledge base through standard, concise and relevant documentation
- Develop the internal processes (i.e. database inputs and reporting) to measure and report on KPIs
- Approve overtime and labor cost exceptions to meet set budget requirements
- Recommend and implement processes, procedures, and systems to drive operational effectiveness
- Confirm and resolve issues with root cause analysis to identify performance gaps and corrective action
People leadership and Development (50%)
- Lead hiring efforts and conduct interviews to attract and retain top talent
- Oversee Lead the onboarding and training programs for all levels of the team
- Support in the creation and development of training documentation for the team
- Hold weekly oneonones, conduct performance reviews, analyze individual KPIs and assess promotion readiness to help each contributor evolve in their roles
- Establish team goals, with the Departmental Leader, Support the team and monitor progress towards achieving objectives
- Perform root cause analysis to identify performance gaps and proactively implement changes to bridge said gaps
- Proactively drive continuous improvement projects for the department
- Perform analytical analysis to identify, lead and implement continuous improvement projects
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in all areas and instil the principles of this culture
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics or a related analytical field
- 35 years of supply chain experience in a high volume fulfillment center or manufacturing operation
- 13 years in a front line people management role
- Flexible working schedule including weekends, day, evenings, nights, overtime (Mandatory requirement)
- Experience with drafting, documenting and implementing new procedures
- Experience with automation within all aspects of the fulfillment process, an asset
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Warehouse Management Systems
- Experience working with apparel, an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and French
