REGISTERED DIETITIAN
EXTENDICARE Holyrood, Leduc & Viking
Reporting to the Administrator, Extendicare Holyrood, the Dietitian is responsible for providing nutritional assessment, planning and follow-up for residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete a nutritional assessment for each resident
- Evaluate nutritional adequacy of dietary intake by calculating and analyzing Food Intake Studies, as necessary for residents identified to be High Nutritional Priority
- Completes the RAI/MDS for nutrition on each resident
- Identify intervention and initiate action to maintain as well as restore the nutritional health of the residents
- Educate resident, family members, and team members regarding diet recommendations
- Individualized resident's diet to meet his or her needs by involving the resident family members, advocates, care givers, physician and other team members in care plan development
- Acts as a representative for Extendicare, through participation in regional and professional activities as appropriate
- Participates in the CQI process
- Work closely with the interdisciplinary team at each site
- Mileage is reimbursed for the travel required from the home site of Holyrood to Leduc and Viking
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered Dietitian, eligible for membership with the College of Dietitians of Alberta
- Extensive knowledge of geriatric nutrition
- 35 years experience in longterm care setting preferred
- Superb organizational, time management and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles and legislation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
- Customerfocused attitude, with high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients
