ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Position Profile:
Provides administrative and clerical support to the Heart and Vascular Medical Diagnostic Team - Cardiology/Respiratory/Neurology Diagnostics.

The duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the collection of patient related information to manage their health record, scheduling appointments, greeting and registering patients, transcription of reports, tracking and submitting payroll accurately.

The secretary will also support the manager as required, and generally be responsible for the smooth overall flow of the clinic.


QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:


  • Graduate of a recognized postsecondary secretarial/administration program (equivalent related experience may be considered)
  • Minimum two years of recent related secretarial experience, preferably in hospital or medical related environment.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course or related experience required
  • Accurate keyboarding of 50 wpm and good proof reading skills required
  • Proficient in MS Word, Access and Excel at an intermediate level required
  • Experience with Meditech and Community Wide Schedule Module required
  • Experience with CareStream preferred
  • Proficient in dictatyping or willing to learn dictatyping (transcription)
  • Knowledge of the health care environment and familiarity with medical health terminology a definite asset.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written required
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service focus skills and pleasant phone manner
  • Excellent problem solving skills with attention to detail and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated flexibility, ability to handle competing and changing priorities, and adaptability to change.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Quick learner and is able to adapt to a variety of task requests and respond to need of various team members
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Health Centre standards.
  • Ability to work effectively and safely when dealing with stressful situations.
  • Able to work well under pressure & cooperate with all Health Centre staff and patients
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
