About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity to support our Marketing & Culinary team as a Temporary Consultant

  • Consumer Insights based in Canada. The Temporary Consultant
  • Consumer Insights 7month role covering for a maternity leave will be tasked with being the impartial voice of the consumer by providing actionable insights that help guide brand and product pipeline strategy. This position will be responsible for monitoring brand performance and identifying opportunities for traffic growth, conducting research to assess and optimize advertising and marketing programs, and closely monitoring category trends and competitive performance. On the product side, the role will help with the frontend innovation and identifying opportunities for traffic growth by conducting research to assess and optimize product offerings through idea generation, concepts and thematic.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for evaluating and optimizing brand messaging through multiple phases of consumer research, such as early-stage concept testing, finished ad evaluation and in-store point -of-purchase testing.
  • With manager oversight, conducts market research studies from start to finish, including but not limited to; issues identification and study design, vendor selection, screener and questionnaire development, research quality control and delivery (on time and within budget); analysis and communication/presentation of actionable results.
  • Manage the thematic and product concept screening process. This will entail vendor selection, study design, communication with R&D team on stimulus, screener and questionnaire development, research quality control and delivery (on time and within budget); analysis and communication/presentation of actionable results.
  • Supports iterative sensory tests from start to finish with guidance, including but not limited to: Issues identification and study design, vendor selection, communication with culinary team on product shipping logistics to research facilities, screener and questionnaire development, research quality control and delivery (on time and within budget); analysis and communication/presentation of actionable results.
  • Help with qualitative focus group planning by working with vendors to support and design moderator guides, coordinating with brand/agency to secure stimulus, analyzing results and presenting/prepping executive summary drafts for Manager/team.
  • Analyze and report on competitive performance utilizing multiple syndicated data and research tools specific to the Quick Service Restaurant category.
  • Manage multiple teams of research vendors. Responsible for research vendor selection, quality control and report delivery (on time and at budget).
  • Identify and closely monitor consumer trends from both inside and outside the category.
  • Present thoughtful, actionable insights to Marketing leadership and crossfunctional teams on a regular basis.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelors in Business, Marketing Research, Marketing, Advertising, Sociology, Psychology, Communications
  • 35 years of experience
  • Experience with syndicated data providers preferred.
  • Experience with product sensory testing preferred.
  • Food service/restaurant and/or retail industry knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced environment; must be able to juggle multiple projects at once and remain flexible as priorities may change based on business needs.
  • Creativity in suggesting outofthebox research solutions that are best suited to solve business challenges.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of information and utilize multiple data sources to mine insights.
  • Strong writing and presentation/storytelling skills required.
  • Strong team player and interpersonal/collaboration skills are a must.


Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, qualifications, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
