Summary
Assures product quality and safety by monitoring and auditing raw ingredients and finished products, as well as all operational procedures in food manufacturing.
Verifies all daily HACCP and SQF and production records to ensure they are complete and accurate.Raw ingredients:
Inspects and evaluates raw incoming ingredients by verifying conformance to specifications.
Follows up with the decision to accept or reject the raw product by reviewing CoA. Initiates product returns as needed.
Communication with suppliers on nonconformance of specifications and/or other quality issues and coordinating with material management staff.
Finished products:
Coordinates taste panels and assess the finished product. Prepares reports related to finished product quality as needed.
Updates quality attributes for new products and as required.
Actively investigates product deviations and recommends follow-up action plans to manufacture.
Conducts random quality and food safety inspections on products and/or procedures to ensure standards are maintained.
Investigate consumer complaints and develop an action plan.
Validate production instruments and tools as per HACCP requirements.
Sanitation & Food Safety:
Conducts scheduled sanitation inspections as per HACCP guidelines.
Conducts onsite verifications of equipment sanitation.
Verifies critical control point information needed for early release.
Maintains sanitation of test kitchen area.
Performs swab tests to monitor equipment cleanliness (environmental swabbing, allergen swabbing).
Provides relief for bacteriological testing of finished products and assessment of lab results.
Recommends operating methods and procedures or equipment designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Communicates, trains, and conducts on-site with staff on established Food Safety Management System procedures.
Conducts inspections including operational, coding monitoring, storage, equipment, and utensils on a daily/ monthly basis.
Education and/or Experience
College diploma in Applied Food Science or equivalent and 1-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with HACCP or SQF is required.

$15.50-$27.00 per hour
