Sinai Health is looking for an experienced leader who is aligned to our purpose to join our team as Manager - Respectful Workplace Investigations to support our People and Culture Portfolio at Sinai Health.


Reporting to the Director Employee & Labour Relations and Respectful Workplace, the Manager - Respectful Workplace Investigations will make a significant contribution to an inclusive, healthy work environment and culture that facilitates safe, high quality service excellence and compassionate care at Sinai Health.

Specifically, in this hands on role, you will act as an investigator in the complaint management process, including performing workplace investigations, facilitating proactive and creative outcomes when interpersonal workplace concerns arise, offer support through training, informal advice or consultation, facilitation or mediation.


You will work closely with our Employee & Labour Relations Team, leaders and our People & Culture portfolio to go beyond compliance and share tools and knowledge to promote psychological safety, diversity and inclusiveness, and team member well-being.


Responsibilities

  • Working in partnership with Employee & Labour Relations, engage in harassment and discrimination complaint intake and complaint resolution through the provision of alternative dispute resolution including expert advice, mediation, negotiation
  • Conduct thorough informal and formal investigations into of harassment and discrimination, producing findings and recommendations that are fair and defensible
  • Conduct climate reviews and develop action plans to address negative workplace environments
  • Provide advice, information and coaching to management and staff at all levels of the Sinai Health on human rights, harassment and domestic violence issues and concerns
  • Develop and review policies to ensure compliance with human rights related legislation and case law; support the development of policies and implementation
  • Conduct needs assessments; evaluate initiatives, identifying educational opportunities in Sinai Health and work collaboratively with employees and the community to develop educational events for Sinai Health
  • Design and facilitate educational sessions, workshops and resources for Sinai Health
  • Participate and/or lead related committee and working group activities
  • Provide regular information and status reports as required
  • Performing other duties as assigned


  • Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of a related bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution; preferably a LLB or degree in Social Sciences, Adult Education, etc.; CHRP an asset
  • Skilled with alternative dispute resolution including coaching, mediation, etc.; formal alternative dispute / mediation training preferred
  • Proven proficiency in leading investigations, evidence analysis, with the ability to write clear, cogent and legally defensible reports inclusive of findings and recommendations to ensure the timely and efficient resolution of complaints
  • Demonstrated acumen in identifying systemic issues and knowledge of diversity and inclusion issues and trends
  • Experienced facilitator with the ability to develop and execute training and education content and work effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Quality improvement focus, with experience creating and refining policies, resources and communications
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal) with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and mentoring/coaching qualities with the ability to engage, motivate and lead small to large teams, resolve team conflicts and work collaboratively to engage, inspire and collaborate on multiple projects and initiatives across Sinai Health
  • Ability to manage resources effectively by being a systems thinker with the ability to prioritize and manage a large body of projects/initiatives
  • Working knowledge of organizational development and change principles related to diversity and inclusion programs
  • Experience with advancing diversity and inclusion, identifying systemic issues/eliminating barriers/fostering inclusive, safe work environments
  • Working knowledge of addressing and educating on violence in the workplace
