Job Description What You'll Do**:


The Property & Casualty Claims Examiner is responsible for serving members and resolving claims, while maintaining the highest level of service.

This includes establishing prompt contact with members, coordinating timely investigations, ensuring legal compliance, maintaining file quality requirements, and adhering to corporate service standards, goals and criteria.

Reporting to the Claims Service Manager, you'll be responsible for:

  • Establish proof of loss. This includes studying and analyzing documentation, collecting additional information from various outside parties as required, initiating or conducting investigation of questionable claims, and negotiating and disposing of all-lines of general insurance claims of minor to moderate complexity in a timely manner.
  • Maintain quality service and adheres to organizational standards to deal with all aspects of file handling including reserving, expense and loss control, liability assessments, and setting an agenda for future handling.
  • Build documents in defense of moderate exposure claims. This includes assessing damages, recognizing potential exposures, implementing tasks to contain ultimate value and disposition of moderate exposure claims using superior negotiation skills.
  • Represent stakeholders in a professional manner at meetings, court hearings, mediations and other information gatherings with a view to effect settlement when appropriate.
  • Attend legal proceedings, pretrials, discoveries and trials as required on behalf of Curo and provides legal support, assembling documentation for settlement action as requested.
  • Adhere to guidelines, contract and insurance regulations to ensure legal compliance.
  • Coach and counsel junior claims staff within the unit as required.

Qualifications Let's Talk About You**:


  • A CIP designation.
  • An Adjuster's license.
  • A minimum of five years all lines claims adjudication.
  • A minimum of three years litigation file management
  • Superior communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The demonstrated ability to provide outstanding service in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities, including project management skills
  • The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
