Maintenance Foreman

The Opportunity:


As the Maintenance Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating area maintenance activities for a dynamic, multi-trades team of contractors and employees working at a number of locations and within varying operations.

Based out of Fort St. John, this role requires frequent travel to all applicable area wells and facilities within the area.

Exceptional communication skills are required, as you will liaise daily with area personnel to plan, schedule, prioritize and coordinate maintenance work relating to rotating equipment and control systems while maintaining an environmentally safe and cost effective work environment.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Provide leadership, knowledge and direction to maintenance staff towards Canadian Natural's Safety Management Systems
  • Maximize safe well production and facility throughout with a focus on overall reliability by working closely with Production Foreman, EHS Coordinator, Technical and Administration Teams to maintain runtime performance of > 98% from wellhead to sales
  • Ensure gas compression equipment is operating at maximum capacity by monitoring monthly compressor evaluation documentation
  • Delegate and organize people and resources efficiently in order to plan and prioritize turnarounds, schedule and coordinate down time to minimize production losses
  • Assist in developing the area operating and capital budgets as they relate to equipment maintenance
  • Prepare authorization for expenditures (AFEs) for special projects and maintain cost control while ensuring cost effective solutions to maintenance problems are evaluated and implemented
  • Work with operations staff to schedule and plan all facility maintenance and generate area equipment maintenance plan
  • Work with operations to train personnel on equipment operation
  • Coordinate various supervisory activities while maintaining 50% of the time in the field including, but not limited to:
  • Scheduling and leading field meetings
  • Organizing work schedule
  • Personnel and equipment reviews, as required

  • Job location: Fort St. John BC


  • Shift schedule: 5x

  • Monday to Friday
  • The successful applicant will be expected to live in the Fort St. John area.
  • Not eligible for company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out and no camp available
  • Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural's Relocation Regular Policy

Skills & Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of field experience in an operational, maintenance or technical role
  • Working knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations
  • Proven team leadership experience in a supervisory or mentorship capacity
  • Proven project management skills in planning, preparations and execution
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of Oil and Gas economics
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Graduate with Engineering Degree, Technology Diploma or Journeyman certification is preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification preferred. Ability to progress to LSSX Green Belt within two years
  • Strong data analysis and computer skills utilizing MS Office, SCADA, Production Accounting systems, Maintenance systems (MAXIMO), Financial Accounting systems, and ability to learn and utilize various Technical systems/software's
