The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), or The EX as it is also known, is Canada's largest community event and one of the top five agricultural fairs in North America.
Taking place over the 18 days leading up to and including Labour Day Monday, the CNE offers a wide variety of interactive entertainment experiences.
Founded in 1879, the CNE is a cherished tradition for the people of Toronto and surrounding communities and attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors annually.
Primary RoleThe CNE is a vibrant and dynamic music stage known for hosting exceptional live performances. We're passionate about creating memorable experiences for both artists and audiences alike. We're seeking a dedicated Stage Manager to join our team and ensure smooth operations during our event.
Reporting to the Entertainment Manager, the Stage Managers primary focus will be ensuring production at the Country stage runs smoothly.
- Coordinate with the Entertainment Manager, performers, and technical staff to ensure seamless execution of performances.
- Oversee general loadin/loadout of the stage. This includes collaborating with Union labour to arrange equipment and instruments.
- Facilitate band sound checks, ensuring all technical aspects are addressed and performers are comfortable with the stage setup.
- Coordinate the activities of stage crew members, including union labour & runners, to ensure tasks are completed effectively.
- In collaboration with union labour, provide technical support to performers, troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all stagerelated inquiries and issues, maintaining clear and open communication with all stakeholders.
- Manage the schedule and timing of performances and transitions, to ensure sets run smoothly and on time.
- Proven experience as a Stage Manager, or similar role in the music or entertainment industry.
- Knowledge of stage setup, equipment, and technical requirements for live performances.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and personalities.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in highpressure situations, with a problemsolving attitude.
- Knowledge of Union rules and regulations a plus.
- Willingness to work in areas that may contain bright lights, loud noises and crowds of people.
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekend and statutory holidays.
