The Opportunity


We are currently looking for a Production Manager to join the Operations Team at our manufacturing facility in Oak Bluff.


In this role, you would be responsible for overseeing all work within manufacturing, including material processing, welding, assembly, and paint.

You will provide expertise in production efficiencies, manufacturing processes, as well as mentorship to the members of the production team for personnel management.

This role will require an active, hands-on approach, providing leadership within the different areas of production and actively identifying and implementing improvements within the manufacturing process.


Responsibilities

  • Proactively work to maintain safe and healthy working conditions, to adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injury and illness and to observe all governmental, regional and company safety and health regulations.
  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed including environmental and social governance.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to develop and ensure that quality standards, production timelines and customer needs are met
  • Manage and provide guidance to the material processing, welding, assembly, and Painting Leaders, and delegate and coordinate work between the departments accordingly
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely and efficient manner
  • Perform root cause analysis, intervention and corrective action regarding the prevention of manufacturing issues and concerns
  • Oversee the planning, monitoring and results of all job activities on the shop floor
  • Assist in the ongoing engagement and retention of team members
  • Manage and evaluate equipment and resources to ensure productivity and mínimal downtime
  • Regular communication with the Management team to ensure that issues and concerns are dealt with in an effective manner
  • Constantly strive to reduce costs via OPEX/Lean/cost reduction/process improvement activities, be a lean champion and a lean 'cheerleader'. Demonstrate Lean Leadership educate, ask questions, drive implementation and conduct weekly Gemba walks.
  • Ensure staff qualification is up to date and identify training needs
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations Management, or a combination of education and experience is preferred
  • 5+ years in a similar role in a manufacturing environment, in a management level position
  • Solid understanding of production processes and techniques
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma or similar program is preferred
  • Previous experience with material and inventory management
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Previous experience in metal fabrication and processing is preferred
  • Strong leadership experience and ability to coach and mentor others
  • Ability to create strong working relationships with business partners at all levels of the organization
  • Strong computer skills with experience in health & safety platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret customer blueprints and drawings
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fastpaced environment
  • Excellent problem solving and decisionmaking ability
  • Selfdirected, results orientated and able to work under tight deadlines
