Job descriptionThe Maintenance person is responsible for maintaining areas of the Chatham Cultural Centre and Capitol Theatre.
Essential responsibilities
Demonstrate Chatham-Kent's core values and competencies
Clean and maintain all public and staff areas of the Chatham Cultural Centre and Capitol Theatre including washrooms, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows and doors
General maintenance of the facility (i.e. painting, general repairs, outdoor lawn care etc.)
Assist in the preparation of set-up and clean-up for rentals in the Cultural Centre and Capitol Theatre by erecting tables and chairs, setting up projection equipment and ensuring the room ready for renters and programs
Act as staff on duty during evening rentals and programs where full-time staff are not required or are otherwise occupied by another duty
Essential qualifications
Secondary school diploma with related experience; or a combination of related education and experience
Experience with setting-up special events
Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and internet (or other similar software programs)
Other qualifications
Related post-secondary education, an asset
Experience with maintenance/small tools and maintenance equipment in a business/industrial environment, an asset
Work environment/hours of work
This position works both indoors and outdoors
This position works weekend and evening hours
COVID-19 Vaccination
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent no longer requires a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment. Although it is not mandatory to be vaccinated, it is highly encouraged.
Driver's licence/vehicle requirements
Because this position would be required to travel, a valid Province of Ontario driver's license with a reliable motor vehicle is preferred.
Essential physical and/or safety requirements
Physical strength and ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, up to 200 pounds kg) with team assistance
Bending:
frequent stooping (up to 9.09 kgs or 20 lbs) (vacuuming, lifting and setting up chairs tables, bags of trash)
Walking:
frequent walking on level surface (up to 4.55 kgs or 10 lbs) (cutting grass, carrying boxes, carrying chairs, carrying garbage bags)
Reaching:
frequent reaching below shoulder, forward (filling mop pails, boxes off shelves, cleaning)
Standing:
frequent standing inside (on feet most of shift)
Hands:
frequent gripping (mopping, pruning, vacuuming)
