    Position Overview

    Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the Clinical Practice Nurse - Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the health care team, and coordination of patient care and discharge. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS POSITION IS COMPRISED OF DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CT/MRI/Angiography. NURSES WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK IN ALL GEOGRAPHIC AREAS. Note: Please be advised that there are staggered start and finish times for day and evening shifts on this unit: Day shifts are between the hours of and - Evening shifts are between the hours of and - There are also standby on call shifts on this unit.

    Experience

  • Two years recent Medical and/or Surgical and/or ICU and/or Emergency and/or Operating Room nursing experience required.
  • Minimum two years recent nursing experience with EKG and pressure monitoring required.
  • Nurses currently working on the unit will be deemed qualified.
  • Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
  • Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current CRNM registration required.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Annual BLS Level C Registration/Re-Registration is required.
  • Must have no contraindications that would limit the ability to perform in a magnetic field (e.g. Pacemaker, middle ear prosthesis, etc.). For more information call the staffing office.
  • Adult Conscious Sedation/Procedural Sedation Education must be obtained when the opportunity is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and employer.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated ability in establishing an I.V. required.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • If there are no applicants meeting the qualifications, the employer may consider an applicant who does not meet the above qualifications.
