In accordance with established procedures, policies, standards and available tools, the incumbent is responsible to provide direct field support with respect to design and construction to ensure the successful completion of assigned construction projects and work tasks, while ensuring that all tasks are completed within the prescribed deadlines and meet Cogeco's Customer, Quality, and construction standards.

In accordance with established designs, procedures, policies, standards and available tools, the incumbent is responsible for the implementation of Cogeco's network infrastructure/strategic projects.

All activities will provide cost efficient solutions in order to build and maintain a leading edge technology network.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and ensures timely and efficient completion of construction activities by assigning work to contractors and maintaining regular contact with utilities, contractors, municipalities, etc. during construction phases.
  • Takes direction on a regular basis from the Program Lead and Network Delivery Coordinator.
  • Schedules and conducts field inspections to verify compliance with design and construction specifications. Initiates and approves necessary field revisions to plans to compensate for field related obstacles and/or changes in conditions.
  • Ensures proper system documentation by communicating asbuilt information to the design department for inclusion in final drawings. Highlights field revisions to enable recalculations by the design staff.
  • Monitors and reports on contractor compliance and safe work practices, use of appropriate tools and equipment, including customer service related initiatives. Escalates issues as required.
  • Deals with customer complaints, determines scope of the problem and initiates corrective action by the appropriate contractor.
  • Liaises with the Procurement and Warehouse Departments to ensure that materials required for construction projects are available and correctly accounted for.
  • Reviews contractor billings and change requests to validate and ensure accuracy.
  • Assists with day to day technical operations network and service related duties as required,
  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • As part of their work, employees must take all necessary measures to ensure their own health and safety, and that of their coworkers and the public in general.
  • They must use available personal protective equipment at all times, and comply with all Health & Safety instructions, guidelines, policies and procedures issued by the Company.
  • To support Cogeco's ultimate goal of providing excellent service to current and potential customers, the incumbent must be constantly attentive and responsive to both external and internal customers' needs and assist in the resolution of any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner while ensuring that the solution meets the customer's needs.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS


ACADEMIC TRAINING- College Diploma in relevant discipline or combination of equivalent education and work experience required- WORK EXPERIENCE- Minimum 5 years experience in HFC/FTTH system construction and/or electronic operational maintenance.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES- Knowledge of engineering and construction operational procedures, technologies, and systems design is preferred. Good knowledge of H&S regulations and practices for construction is preferred.
Process oriented with solid problem solving and analytical skills. Detail oriented (accurate/thorough). Highly organised. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experienced in effectively coordinating portions of multiple projects and working with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to execute multiple tasks simultaneously, efficiently and within a predetermined time frame. Able to "think outside the box" and see the impact of decisions/actions. Demonstrated thoroughness, follow-up, time management skills are required. Solid interpersonal skill with a winning customer service attitude and high level of professionalism Able to establish positive working relationships and work in intra-departmental work teams. Self motivated with the ability to take initiative in identifying and resolving problems independently. Ability to monitor own work for quality is required. Valid Class G [minimum] Ontario Driver's licence and eligibility to drive Cogeco vehicles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND VISUAL ACUITY- May be required to operate various hand and power tools, carry heavy equipment, work in manholes, trenches, on ladders and aerial lift units-
