Financial Analyst - Investment Administration

The Financial Analyst - Investment Administration provides administrative support to the Investment Administration team responsible for supporting Empire Life's asset management function.

The incumbent is guided by defined procedural constraints and works under the moderate supervision of the Manager, Investment Finance and Administration.


What you'll be working on:


  • Perform daily data entry, reconciliation, trade settlement, pricing and reporting as per defined delivery dates
  • Assist with the enhancement, update and maintenance of policies and procedures
  • Reconcile cash, asset holdings and transaction activity; assess accuracy and plausibility
  • Participates in the production and/or review of weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearend reports
  • Monitor investment receivables (dividends, coupons etc.) to ensure they are received correct and on time
  • Complete all necessary paperwork involved in establishing trading in/with new markets/brokers and private placement settlements
  • Assist with regular maintenance of investment database
  • Resolve settlement differences by collaborating and communicating with custodians and brokers
  • Ensure management is apprised of all potential problems
  • Maintain records as per prescribed Audit requirements
  • Maintain a strong understanding of investment products and customer needs
  • Participates on projects relating to the Investment Administration department

What you'll need to have:


  • Post secondary education
  • Canadian Securities Course an asset 13 years work experience with administration systems in the insurance/financial services industry (relevant coop experiences included)
  • Knowledge of the investment industry
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects
  • Welldeveloped organizational skills
  • Ability to construct written reports on various issues
  • Clear reading, writing, keyboarding, editing and/or proofreading skills
  • Welldeveloped analytical, evaluation, decisionmaking and problem resolution
  • Ability to use current business software
