Job Description:

What you'll be doing

  • At CIBC, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 13 days per week onsite, while other days will be remote._
How you'll succeed

  • Review and periodically update CIBC's Confidentiality and Privacy Policy, Canadian Privacy Standards and Canadian clientfacing privacy brochure to address evolving regulations, including any regional requirements and client facing privacy policies
  • Oversee processes related to the investigation, management, escalation, and reporting of privacy issues
  • Evaluate, monitor and assess the ongoing adequacy of CIBCwide privacy policies, standards, processes, tools, training and communications in accordance with CIBC's Global Privacy Management Framework
  • Identify trends of privacy risk root causes, engage and support business efforts to develop and implement crossfunctional and enterprisewide remedial solutions
  • Report to the Corporate Governance Committee of the Board of Directors on an annual basis on governance processes, emerging trends and legal, regulatory or prudential developments relating to privacy matters
  • Liaise with Privacy Commissioners or provincial privacy regulators and where appropriate other foreign privacy regulators where CIBC conducts business
  • Provide privacy related expertise and guidance to assist business management, the Privacy Committee and the CCO in understanding and managing privacy risks and privacy concerns
  • Promote awareness and education of privacy and privacybydesign to increase bank wide understanding of privacy principals
  • Participate in and provide privacy related expertise and guidance in select advisory and consulting activities
  • Assign and approve closure of all investigations of concerns reported
  • Actively participate as a member of the Compliance & Global Regulatory Affairs Senior Leadership Team
  • Lead, manage and develop the team and provide ongoing advice and direction on a variety of complex conceptual or interpretative issues; keep the team highly focused on the deliverables required by the senior executives and each business group.
Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. Minimum 10 years of related experience in regulatory compliance, privacy policy and Canadian Privacy Standards.
  • You can demonstrate knowledge. Working knowledge of federal, provincial and international privacy practices, procedures and principles. Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, privacy policy and Canadian Privacy Standards. You have a deep understanding of general marketplace practices, regulatory environment and client business practices in the financial industry.
  • You have a degree. A legal degree is an asset
  • You have strong management/leadership skills. Lead, manage and develop the team and provide ongoing advice and direction on a variety of complex conceptual or interpretative issues; keep the team highly focused on the deliverables required by the senior executives and each business group.
  • You have strong influential skills. You use your influencing skills to shape decisions or processes in situations that involve matters of major business policy or strategy
