Maintenance A Worker
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be knowledgeable in areas of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and other miscellaneous maintenance repairs
- Experienced in installing, repairing, fixing, replacing, and inspecting a wide variety of building and property systems, equipment, chattels and other miscellaneous building/property matters
- Experienced with power tools and is familiar with electrical
- Pays close attention to detail. Exhibits solid time management skills
- Demonstrates familiarity with site safety precautions.
- Is capable of adapting repair skills and mechanical knowledge to a wide range of different requests.
- Demonstrates ability to operate mechanical, landscaping, snow removal and outdoor equipment.
- Can respond quickly and calmly to emergency requests.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with others to describe the problem and solution involved in particular maintenance requests. Works well with a team and able to follow instructions and procedures.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and is able to follow instructions
- A good attendance record is required
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
Work Environment Work may be conducted either inside or outside according to maintenance requests. Tasks may involve moderate to heavy physical labour. Must be in good physical condition and must participate in and successfully pass a Work Abilities Assessment arranged by the employer before commencing employment. Walking, climbing, standing, sitting, and lifting are required
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License
Experience
Minimum of - 5 years of general maintenance experience (institutional/Facility setting preferred)
Certification
Satisfactory Police Criminal/Vulnerable Sector Check Mandatory
Full COVID vaccination requirements Mandatory
WHMIS training
Range of Pay:
as per Collective Agreement
