Description

Responsibilities

  • Attend all prebid site meetings to prepare accurate estimates
  • Analyze and comprehend project plans, specs, and details
  • Analyze project financials and labor costs
  • Complete bid packages for clients
  • Prepare estimates/takeoffs of costs of labor, materials, and equipment
  • Prepare and followup on quotes
  • Establish and maintain existing relationships with Strategic Accounts
  • Review all contracts and quotes for accuracy
  • Prepare material order sheets
  • Maintain a directory of product suppliers
  • Review products used in projects (analyze cost etc.)
  • Review bid opportunities and advise on the selection of bids to pursue.
  • Consult and communicate with project managers, architects, engineers and clients involved at all levels of a project
  • Prepare for and execute handover meetings with Project managers

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working as an estimator
  • Education in a civil engineering / building science program or a related educational field is an asset
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and firm understanding of contract documents
  • Strong negotiation skill
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadline
  • Experienced in using MS office package
