Description:


Under the general direction of the Manager, Digital Workforce & Analytics, the People Analytics Consultant provides a broad range of support to special project initiatives that are impacting HR practices and policies across the University.

The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating a wide range of reporting, analytics and insights pertaining to HR surveys, employment equity and other initiatives that are either sponsored by the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture or require the Division's assistance and input.


The survey initiatives may include but are not limited to: (a) employee engagement surveys, (b) HR Stakeholder surveys, (c) new hire surveys, (d) service effectiveness and efficiency surveys.

The equity initiatives may include but are not limited to:
(a) Annual Employment Equity Reporting, (b) the implementation of a pay transparency framework (c) ad-hoc reporting of the University's Equity data.

Other key initiatives include:

responding to ad hoc requests for HR Reports from a wide range of stakeholders, research and analyses on a wide variety of issues and topics, and supporting various HR Strategic Initiatives projects, including testing, data cleanup and presenting information for distribution both within the department and to a wider audience at the University.


The People Analytics Consultant will participate in the advancement of projects and undertake initiatives and daily activities within the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture that require knowledge of confidential information impacting staff in all employee groups.

The role of the People Analytics Consultant will continue to evolve and the individual must be willing to respond to the given priorities of the day and be willing to work cooperatively in a challenging and dynamic environment.


Qualifications Required:


EDUCATION:


University degree with some postsecondary education in industrial and organizational psychology, statistics, or human resources management preferred, or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.


EXPERIENCE:


Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Human Resources or functional analyst position within the context of a large, complex organization.

Project management experience. Experience analyzing large amounts of data and consulting clients. Experience with formulating hypotheses, interpreting and communicating results. Experience with predictive analytics, data mining, and people analytics. Experience with HR policies, procedures and processes preferred.


SKILLS:

Computer skills, including intermediate to advanced skills in spreadsheet, database and word processing software. Experience with statistical software packages (R, SPSS, Python) as well as data visualization software is considered an asset. Advanced research skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.


OTHER:

Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills. A thorough understanding of complex issues related to equity and diversity. Ability to handle confidential information, demonstrating tact, diplomacy and judgement. Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships, especially during difficult situations. Ability to explain technical concepts and complex regulations to a non-technical audience. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to manage a fluctuating workload, under pressure, and to meet deadlines. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
