ABOUT US:

The DDRC is a non-profit, registered, charitable organization that began in 1952.

WHAT THE ROLE PROVIDES YOU:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Implementation of all strategic marketing communication and development plans including everyone belongs
  • Management and coordination of Agency marketing communications functions targeting all internal and external stakeholders
  • Track and monitor marketing communications programs/campaign successes,

Issues Management:
perform environmental scanning; identify, anticipate, research, and articulate trends and potential concerns communications), and develop action plans as required

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the communications and development staff, including workload assignment, guidance, support and evaluation
  • Provides support to staff working directly with volunteers
  • Management of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Donors
  • Lead marketing communications positioning, strategy and planning
  • Manage and provide creative direction to contractors (e.g. graphic designer; printers, photographers; researchers; etc.)
  • Management of all marketing communications material
  • Provide strategic and tactical marketing communications expertise to various departments
  • Identify speaking opportunities for designatedDDRC staff
  • Editor and director of Connection (external) newsletter
  • Publisher of people manager updates Editor of enewsletter
  • Manage employee engagement and internal communications initiatives
  • Agency social media
  • Writing and editing of the annual report
  • Miscellaneous writing and editing including speeches; feature stories for external publications fundraising materials, and anything destined for increased community awareness to ensure consistent messaging
  • Plan, organize, execute, and evaluate the Inclusion Awards, Vipond golf event, Stampede Breakfast, Holiday Open House, and various internal events
  • Provide organizational support to fund development events as needed
  • Maintain current media contact
  • Perform proactive and reactive media relations to ensure media coverage that is aligned with DDRC's vision, mission, values and goals
  • Perform media monitoring
  • Adheres to the Fundraising Code of Ethics as stated by AFP
  • Establish networks/community alliances
  • In conjunction with the Communications Coordinator, create and execute a strategic and integrated fundraising plan
  • Participation in appropriate external committees and activities

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Takes accountability to ensure all mandatory certifications and training are kept current
  • University Degree in an applicable field or College Diploma/Applied Degree specific to marketing communications and/or Fundraising or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Membership with the Canadian Public Relations Society or the International Association of Business Communicators
  • 35 years of experience
  • Professional communications skills verbal, written, listening
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Superior skills to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Handles situations with assertiveness, tack, diplomacy and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrates flexibility, objectivity, creativity, initiative
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite
