Position Summary


Will work under the supervision of a licensed audiologist(s) performing selective tasks in patient assessment and working with hearing aids and other amplification systems to enhance our patient's experience.

The position is responsible for planning, organizing, and providing various assignments including:

managing new hearing aid orders and repairs, routine patient care including hearing aid cleaning and maintenance, inventory control, preparing treatment rooms, assisting with assessments, prepping patients for audiological tests, and manage daily receiving.

This position will also include being an integral part working at our front office/reception and all the duties that come with it.


Job Functions

Treatment/Patient Rooms:


  • Verifies equipment such as otoscopes, otoscope tips and penlights tips are available in each room including each are fully charged
  • Cables and boots are readily available in fitting rooms
  • Responsible that rooms are sterilized and ready for the day
  • Responsible for equipment cleaning, sterilization, and infection control
  • Clean rooms between patients

Hearing Aid Tasks:


  • Send out hearing aid orders
  • Track orders to ensure they arrive in a timely manner
  • Check hearing aids when they arrive, which include reading the hearing aids on the computer and running an electroacoustic analysis
  • Perform routine cleaning of hearing aids which may include replacing earmold tubing, clean receivers and microphones of ITE aids, and clean corrosion in battery compacts
  • Send out hearing aid repairs when necessary
  • Verify if patients may pick up repaired hearing aid or if they need an appointment for fitting
  • Verify the Audiologist has reviewed the hearing aid for programming
  • Performs hearing aid orientation, including basic care and use of hearing aid (insertion, removal, adjusting volume, etc.)
  • Demonstrates and sells Assistive Listening Devices (ALD's), batteries, and other special products
  • Maintains hearing aid supplies and orders as needed
  • Assists with walkin patients; clean and check hearing aids, minor repairs, minor counselling reinstruction on insertion, reinstruction of care and maintenance
  • Sends and receives hearing aid orders, repairs, and earmold orders
  • Confirm all orders are in Blueprint
  • Charge hearing aids and accessories before fitting appointments
  • Demonstrates assistive listening devices
  • Performs fit calls
  • Assists with hearing aid exchanges or returns, as needed

Assessment Related Tasks

  • Assists Audiologist with pediatric assessments, as needed
  • Assists Audiologist with central auditory processing assessment, as needed
  • Nondiagnostic otoscopy (confirm wax and dome/filter in ear)
  • Assists with hearing aid orientation, including basic care and use of the hearing aid (insertion, removal, adjusting volume, wax filter changes, and battery replacement)

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Assists with aural rehabilitation classes
  • Loads Noah software updates
  • Completes basic paperwork such as repair forms, purchase agreements, and warranty information
  • Tracks instock products
  • Scans and faxes reports and documents, as needed
  • Assists with marketing initiatives
  • Provides excellent customer service and maintains good public relations
  • Follows good safety and infection control protocols
  • Exercises confidentiality relating to patient and business information

Front Desk

  • Opening and closing office
  • Day end
  • Greets patients
  • Book patients into clinic
  • Collect patient payments
  • Answer incoming phone calls
  • Returns phone calls on behalf of the Audiologist
  • Vacation support
  • Performs other miscellaneous administrative duties

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Frequently requires sitting, using hands, bending, reaching, and twisting
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Standing and walking throughout the day
  • The work environment is moderately busy, with noise from phones and other business office machines

Job Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Communicative Disorders Assistant Post-Graduate Certificate
  • Collaborates and communicates well with patients, audiologists, and administration staff
  • Demonstrate high standards of professional competency (i.e., teamwork, professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, infection control, and total quality patient care)
