Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.


Summary of responsibilities:


The Pharmacy Charge Technician is a highly organized individual who is responsible for providing daily oversight of pharmacy operations and ensuring that team members are working effectively towards effective drug distribution and delivery of services while problem-solving and maintaining oversight of deliverables to ensure that deadlines are met.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to pharmacy staff to ensure that daily tasks are completed within required timelines.
  • Acts as the main point of contact to resolve issues and answer questions related to pharmacy while appropriately escalating concerns to the most appropriate manager.
  • Performing pharmacy technician duties.
  • Performs administrative tasks (e.g., audits, reports, memo's, pharmacy alerts)
  • Oversees the pharmacy environment to ensure the safety, quality, and integrity of drugs.
  • Maintains inventory to maximize safe and efficient drug distribution.
  • Completes required audits and reconciliations for controlled substances according to current laws, regulations, and policies, identifying and reporting any discrepancies or potential issues to the pharmacist.
  • Schedule and perform routine equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, functionality and integrity of compounding, packaging, dispensing and storage equipment.
  • Organize, file and store documents according to legal requirements and in a way, they can be retrieved readily.
  • Maintain current records of and abide by policies governing provincial / territorial pharmacy procedures.
  • Functional level in English (oral and written)

Requirements of the job:


  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with OCP (Ontario College of Pharmacists)
  • Good knowledge of pharmacy services, project development and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality.
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and computer skills
  • Knowledge of purchasing and supply management
