Field Services Student - Civil Engineer / Construction Management
**Utilities
- Co-Op**Marigold Infrastructure Partners* ( MIP) has a Co-Op placement opportunity supporting the Utilities Team. The team is responsible for directing Utility Work and Pipeline Work and coordinating between Utility and Pipeline Companies as required to execute the Construction, Commissioning, and utility servicing of the Project.
The duties will be varied and will focus on tasks/activities required to meet our environmental, safety and design compliance obligations.
STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: 8-month term, starting January 2023, located in Edmonton, Alberta Specific responsibilities are listed below.
HOURS OF WORK:
Our business hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, students may be required to work overtime hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with MIP team leads in coordination with the municipality for document approvals and permitting.
- Work with MIP team leads in coordination with various third utility companies (i.e., EPCOR, Shaw, Telus, Fortis) for document approvals and permitting
- Participate in developing and updating project schedules in consultation with the responsible Discipline/Scope Manager
- Support the drafting of requests for proposals and construction tendering documentation.
- Maintains project document control documentation including but not limited to formation and executing daily reports, RFIs, shop drawings, changes, quantity tracking and confirmation for monthly subcontractor billing, and daily labor timesheets
- Assists field supervision personnel with operational tasks including preparation of work plans and packages, scheduling updates, updating drawings, and supervision of subcontractor operations
- Coordinates with field operations to execute the plan according to schedule and addresses necessary field changes with appropriate Engineering functions.
- Assists with implementing and monitoring Quality and Safety Plans, including participation in job site safety reviews, toolbox meetings, and safety training
- Assists in the preparation of purchase orders, subcontracts and generation of change orders and budgets.
- Performs basic engineering calculations and assists in interpretations of drawings and specifications for field crews
- Requisitions and tracks material deliveries to the job site as required to meet schedule.
- Performs other duties as required
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Experience in the construction industry is a strong asset
- Class 5 DL (GDL acceptable)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills.
- Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask/ Service orientated.
- Thrive on a fastpaced environment.
- Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
