Position:
Events Sales Manager**
Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing

Scope:


The Events Sales Manager's role is to develop and implement strategies to boost group and event bookings, conferences, and meeting revenue while enhancing the hotel's reputation as a top choice for group experiences.

This position involves expanding the business through maintaining existing accounts, acquiring new clients, and using effective sales and marketing techniques.

The main focus is on identifying potential clients, negotiating contracts, and closing deals to meet budgetary goals for sales, profitability, and return on investment.

The ultimate goal is to increase revenue by securing events and maintaining strong client relationships.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Identify potential event clients and create a targeted sales strategy to secure new business.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event/meeting planners, and local businesses.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets through proactive lead generation and negotiations.
  • Keep uptodate with industry trends and competitors to identify opportunities for revenue growth.

Relationships:


  • Internal_: All hotel departments: Communicate client expectations with the hotel operations departments, and Crowne Meetings Director in an effort to coordinate delivery of services to the guest

Sales Staff:
Share leads/referrals.

  • External_: Guests: To provide courteous and efficient service while selling.
  • Vendors_: Supervision/Contracts for goods/services.
  • Competitors_: Monitor and Analyze competitors and business conditions to develop marketing strategies.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary Education in Hotel Management or Business Administration, extensive work experience or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years in hotel sales and marketing including one year of food and/ or hospitalityrelated work experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of the "inner workings" of the hospitality industry. Local market experience is helpful.
  • Experience working with Opera & STS Cloud

Events Sales Manager will focus on selling groups/conference/meeting/catering business; therefore a significant portion of time is spent speaking, listening, thinking, reasoning, and writing.

Mathematical skills, including basic math, problem-solving, forecasting, profit/ loss concepts, variances, and percentages are often used. Supervisory and management activities are ongoing.

A significant amount of time is spent communicating and interacting with various people inside and outside of the hotel.


Reading and writing abilities are often used when communicating with hotel outlets and outside contacts when planning menus and services, as well as to document any sales-related activity.


A large portion of time is spent on sales calls prospecting new accounts, conducting tours, meeting and greeting clients, and/or meeting and directing with other hotel departments.

Some travel is necessary in order to meet potential clients and to attend conventions and trade shows.

  • Actively solicit, prospects, and develop new client base by engaging in direct sales efforts to seek and qualify new business opportunities through planned weekly sales calls to tap into new accounts to meet and exceed budgeted revenues.
  • Develops and implements the overall account strategy for new prospect accounts.
  • Upsell hotel services and products suggesting menus, and other revenue opportunities (i.e., Audio Visual, rental) to maximize return for guests and hotel.
  • Utilize cold call techniques, and other sources to research potential new accounts and identify business lead opportunities.
  • Negotiate meeting room rentals, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines. Ensure accuracy in producing or reviewing sales contracts, rate agreements, and catering proposals.
  • Thoroughly qualify each potential booking to gain a comprehensive understanding of its full potential and value.
