Role and Responsibilities
As part of the Fixed Wing Search & Rescue (FWSAR) Operational Training Unit (OTU) at 19 Wing Comox, we are looking to hire an IT Technician.
This position will provide IT and LAN support for the training centre classrooms, training devices, maintenance and information systems, scheduling system, course management system and to the ISS staff.
Responsibilities include:
- supporting the local office for technical support, basic troubleshooting for computer set up Specific duties include server support, phone system support and patching of server infrastructure
- Provide desktop support to the team in Comox
- Build computer per guidelines that are provided including checklists
- Interact directly (in person & by phone) with endusers for basic support and arrange 2nd level support if required
- Workstation and classroom set up/tear downs and moves
Mandatory qualifications include:
- Postsecondary education and 56 years related work experience
- MCP certification
- Expertise component within one or two disciplines, for example SharePoint
- Intermediate knowledge of desktop operating systems (MS)
- Advanced network knowledge (TCPIP, hubs, switches, routers)
- Intermediate understanding of printers
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of office computer equipment for the purpose of ordering and providing guidance for purchasing
- Eligible to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit
- Capable of obtaining and maintaining Controlled Goods and Secret security clearances
Desirable qualifications include:
- MCSE or multiple MCP's
