The House of Commons' Digital Media and Connected Systems (DMCS) team is currently looking to staff the position of Systems Technician for the Videoconference Operations Center (VC ops).

We are seeking a Systems Technician to join our dynamic VC ops team. You will be at the forefront of the hybrid Parliaments' audio-visual operations and its multimedia integrations.

You will play a crucial role in the creation, hosting and monitoring of videoconferencing events at the hybrid Parliament, as well as the harmonization of all related audio-video and distribution components.


As a Systems Technician, you will maintain the videoconferencing infrastructure for the entire Parliamentary Precinct by optimizing our systems in terms of settings, updates and best practices.


In addition, you will participate in the continuous improvement of our service offering by actively participating in expansion and upgrade projects.

*Please note the following*As part of this position, you must be willing to work onsite five days a week, willing to work weekends, shift work (early morning, daytime & late evening shifts) and potentially be on call/overtime on short notice.

Qualifications Education**:


  • Completion of college or university degree or diploma in a field related to information technology, audiovisual production, technical production, media and technology, electronics or an acceptable combination of education, technical training, and experience.

Experience:


  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an event provisioning technician (or equivalent) with experience in technical support and problem solving or minimum of three (3) years of experience in videoconferencing;
  • Experience in the design, testing and implementation of videoconference systems integrated with multimedia components to respond to unique client requirements and define best parameters;
  • Experience with various technical equipment (live events, audio/video, broadcasting, webcasting, videoconferencing and simultaneous interpretation);
  • Experience with Zoom, Cisco, Crestron, AMX, QSC, Extron, Media Matrix, Evertz, Televic and Bosch programming systems;
  • Experience with high profile client relations and effective handling of service requests and technical issues.

Assets:


  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in videoconference using Zoom interface, zoom Dashboard and associated technologies;
  • Expertise with Crestron and Cisco controller and codec;
  • Deep Knowledge of network principles (types of routers and switches, basic IP, MAC);
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office 365 suite.
