Health Care Aide Lead (HCA Lead):
Temporary Contract Position with opportunity for other full time permanent positions_
Overview:
Academy of Learning Career College is seeking a a designated LPN or RN to fill its Health Care Aid Instructor Lead position.
The key role of a Health Care Aide (HCA) Lead is to provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to ensure the delivery of compassionate and high-quality care to patients while overseeing the coordination of caregiving activities within a healthcare team
.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain course exams in the Learning Management System.
- Carry out instructional duties in class, lab, and clinical settings as required and as needed.
- Demonstrate professional conduct and attitudes, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment.
- Organize meetings with practicum sites
- Adhere to health and safety program and college policies and procedures.
- Provide formative and summative feedback to learners in compliance with college, curriculum, and program policies.
- Provide initial skill demonstration in Lab class, supervise skill practice, and assess skills for competency as needed.
- Plan, modify, and implement individual educational plans.
- Develop knowledge and skills through participation in courses, workshops, professional meetings, interaction with colleagues, and through independent study of current literature.
- Develop and administer student orientation to the curriculum and provincial exam.
- Develop quality assurance protocols for the HCA workplace program to meet program standards.
- Ensure students have practicum sites through HSPnet and ensure they are registered for charting orientation specific to the facility.
- Attend EPAC and Connect Care, keeping up to date with the evergreening process of the HCA Program.
- Ensure the Clinical Practicum Agreements are kept up to date by renewing the agreements.
- Orientation to new Instructors regarding the HCA Program, AOL Policies and Procedures, materials used in the HCA course, orientating the instructors how to download the students requirements onto ACME.
- Being available for the instructors in the HCA program as needed and troubleshooting.
- Provide advice to the other instructors if a student is having problems personally, and as a student. Referring the instructors of whom to contact to assist the student.
- Creating cohort dates on a calendar and ensuring management, student advisers, instructors and students have a copy of the calendar of their cohort.
- Instructing instructors on how to use Google Classroom.
- Ensure each Syllabi has the necessary information on the Syllabi pertaining to the cohort
- Ensuring the Instructors are aware of the requirements into practicum and the program.
- Ensuring the students and instructors are able to explain how to register for the HCA directory and for the HCA bursary.
- Keep the instructors and the students up to date on Covid outbreak status if they are at a facility that has been declared to be in outbreak.
- To perform Peer Reviews on instructors, at minimum once a year in each of the following courses, theory, labs and practicum. Provide feedback.
- Mark student assignments
- Participate in services to maintain up to date knowledge regarding instructing and keep up to date of all changes being made towards the HCA program.
- Assisting with Compliance and ensuring all documents are in order.
- Assist with Course 9 Evaluations and marking of assignments.
- Completing the GOA regarding the HCA Learning Guides
- Attend staff meetings, collaborate with instructors.
- Ensure communication with management regarding supplies for campuses.
- Ensuring the instructors are aware of educational opportunities related to the HCA and adult education.
- Ensure to complete compliance annual report for Alberta Health services and making sure all the requirements are up to date.
- Ensure to be prepared for the Alberta Health services follow ups and meetings for the site reviews.
- Maintain an organized Lab supplies inventory per campus.
- Submit Lab supplies order per cohort accordingly
.
Qualifications:
- Related diploma or degree from a recognized postsecondary institution
- 3+ years' experience as an LPN or RN
- Active LPN or RN License
- 3+ years teaching experience.
- 2 years or more in a lead position will be considered an asset.
