**Program Overview - Family Settlement, Community Programs

The Settlement Services Specialist is responsible for coordinating strategic projects, case management of the clients in these projects and acting as community of practice lead for the Settlement Counsellor team.

This position ensures all qualitative and quantitative deliverables of the strategic projects and helps build a strong settlement service team with high service standards.

The Settlement Services Specialist is expected to fulfill the physical and psychological demands of the job.

Given WoodGreen's multi-site locations, we reserve the right to relocate the incumbent to another site within the organization, performing the same duties, as dictated by program needs.

Reasonable notice of any site relocation will be provided


What You Will Do

  • Responsible for coordination, execution, and monitoring strategic projects as directed by Manager.
  • Support the Manager in planning and evaluation of the projects by making observations and recommendations for program delivery options.
  • Conduct outreach, assessment, and referral to community partners for participation in strategic project initiatives.
  • Responsible for case management of strategic project participants through ongoing follow up with them to address their needs and concerns throughout their program or service duration so they can successfully achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with relevant internal departments and external partners to ensure effective program delivery and reporting are done.
  • Coordinate with community partners their program participants activities such as placements, academic activities, mentorship, and transitions to employment.
  • Schedule, prepare, update, and facilitate workshops & special events according to the goals of the program and clients' needs utilizing a variety of multimedia tools.
  • Develop excellent relationships with community partners to ensure all partners are aware of program details & activities.
  • Track all program activity related to intake data, participation, milestones, outcomes, settlement support, and other required information.
  • Case management and maintain client activity service statistical information for monthly reports.
  • Support the professionalism and skill development of staff by offering peer mentoring, coaching and the coordination of professional development activities.
  • Represent the needs and perspectives of staff engaged in settlement counselling at WoodGreen to management and within internal/external initiatives, particularly the Newcomer Services Newcomer Wellbeing Model implementation.
  • Provide orientation, training and mentorship to new staff and existing staff on services standards and workflow process of their role in settlement counselling.
  • Responsible for developing training material, guidelines, checklist, and other materials to support the role of the settlement counsellor team.
  • Demonstrate best practices & expectations within their own case management work with clients.
  • Responsible for representing the unit on internal staff committees to collaborate with other CPU & WoodGreen teams ensuring optimum client service.
  • Provide input to supervisors during the performance evaluation process related to the staff members demonstration of skills, progress and setting new goals/objectives.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions with Manager & participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Coach and empower team responsible for providing settlement counselling, leading by example to conduct intakes & develop Settlement Plans for clients.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Newcomer Service Management Team.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, business administration, education, or related disciplines.
  • 2 + years of experience in program coordination
  • 4 + years of case management; preferably in the field of newcomer settlement services.
  • Fluency in a second language is a strong asset.
  • Project management experience will be an asset
