AECOM Canada Nuclear Services is searching for a Nuclear Site Quality Inspector Architectural for a full-time position based at Chalk River, supporting the Construction Management Team at the site.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Site Quality Inspector - Architectural is responsible for technical and quality inspections of civil and structural installations, as well as surveillance and witnessing of work performed by other trades.
The primary responsibility is to perform independent testing, surveillance, oversight and witnessing of activities related to procurement, construction, and maintenance projects.
These duties include, but are not limited to, preparing & implementing inspection and test procedures, identifying installation, product & process issues, implementing the nonconformance process through records and tracking systems, performing independent testing of architectural, civil and structural installations and providing formal reports.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Support the Site Inspection Lead in the execution of the Quality Control Program
Position responsibilities include:
- Review project Inspection & Testing Plans (ITP) and other Project Plans, as needed.
- Participate in independent quality oversight, surveillance and witnessing of field activities and installations.
- Participate in independent sampling, testing and material receipt inspection.
- Support the preparation and implementation of project inspection/assessment strategies and reports to cover all project phases.
- Ensure that all non-conformance issues are promptly investigated, corrective and preventive actions are proposed/implemented and are closed out in a timely manner; assist in trending and analyzing quality data.
- Liaise with client and contractor quality representatives, and project members to ensure that all quality issues are documented and resolved.
- Interface and coordinate with clients, contractors, and inspection & testing agencies on QC matters; oversee related inspection & testing activities for quality and conformance to deliverable requirements.
- Coordinate QC deliverables and documentation; participate in QC planning activities.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
The skills and knowledge to execute this role are usually acquired through 5+ years of experience in a regulated environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree Architectural/Civil Engineer with 4 years of related construction experience or
Technologist. or equivalent experience + 4 years of related construction experience
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years as an engineer or technologist with experience in the core architectural areas below.
- A minimum three years' experience in construction QC inspection, preferably in the nuclear industry.
+ Core Experience:
Fabrication and construction in the following areas: Masonry; metal fabrications; wood plastics and composites; thermal and moisture protection; building openings, finishes, furnishings; metal building systems; prefabricated buildings; modular panel containment systems; vehicle weigh scales, and bridge cranes.
- Demonstrated ability to understand architectural, structural, and civil drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and familiarity with quality tools and methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience writing quality testing and surveillance reports.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for inspection, testing, quality control and defect management.
Offered rate of compensation in Chalk River will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience. The salary range for this position is $ 90K- $120K.
