Job Summary:
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Research
- Researches potential funding sources in Alberta, Canada or beyond.
- Understands the breadth and depth of CSS programs.
- Manages a pipeline of prospective grant opportunities.
- Prioritizes program and funding needs and aligns them with grant opportunities.
- Develops and transforms ideas into grant proposals.
- Understands the needs of granting bodies and trends in the granting world.
- Builds strong relationships with key staff across the agency to generate new ideas and opportunities for grants.
- Establishes and maintains strong personal relationships with key funders.
- Manages processes and people so grants, and grant reports are submitted in a timely fashion.
- Coordinates and conducts all aspects of the grant process from research, writing, submission and reporting.
- Ensures all funder reporting requirements are met as per the identified deadlines.
- Ensures CSS' primary database (currently Raisers Edge) is up to date with all relevant funder information.
- Resolves any issues or conflicts, which may arise from timetotime.
- Handles financial records and grant materials with discretion.
- Submits monthly granting reports to the Fund Development and Finance teams.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including support to the Fund Development team during the annual Sign of Hope appeal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- Familiar with grant research tools.
- Understands trends in nonprofits and grant writing.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask, establish priorities and take initiative.
- Experience in nonprofit work and/or volunteering essential.
Formal Education and Experience:
- Degree in Fundraising, nonprofit studies, English, Journalism or a related field. (Experience in the field may be considered instead of formal education).
- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) considered an asset.
- PMP or other project management certification considered an asset.
Other requirements:
- Satisfactory Security checks including Police Information Check (CPIC)
- Transportation to attend meetings and presentations in different offices and program
