ABOUT US

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Carpenter Apprentice & Journeyman will be responsible for effectively delivering the civil portion of the project to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc.

achieves their general and specific project requirements.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reading blueprints
  • Undertaking the layout (selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions)
  • Prepare, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams and shafts
  • Cutting and shaping materials and joining them with nails, screws, bolts or glue
  • Checking completed units to be sure they are level, square, plumb and the right size, shape and location
  • General carpentry such as framing, hoarding, doors and frames and other activities as assigned
  • Journeyman will mentor apprentices

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Certified Journeyman Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
  • Doka formwork experience
  • Bridge structure experience an asset
  • The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time
  • Manual dexterity
  • Good sense of balance when working on scaffolds
  • The ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
  • The ability to get along well with others on a work team
  • Must be willing to work in remote job locations
  • Must have a strong understanding of safety procedures and policies on an industrial job site
  • Ariel work platform ticket
  • Fall protection ticket

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Repetitive movement
  • Able to perform in a fastpaced environment
  • Continuously changing work tasks
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments
6/1 shift, 10 hour day


Salary:
$45.18 per hour


Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Winnipeg, MB R2N 4J6: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- bridge structure: 1 year (preferred)

  • Carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
