Scope


Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to help individuals and communities to gain equal opportunities to become productive members of Canadian society.

Our organization has a strong history of helping newcomers, youth, women and seniors. We are looking for an experienced
Programs Manager to organize and coordinate programs and services at our Etobicoke location.


Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Extensive experience in establishing new branches and creating partnerships
  • Strong understanding of issues facing immigrants/newcomers in Etobicoke and its surrounding environments
  • Knowledge of the immigration system and community services, programs, resources and outreach practices.
  • Ability to work with community groups such as places of worship, schools, libraries etc. in meeting the needs of newcomer clients and their families
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, manage, implement, and design crisis plans
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of community resources and make appropriate referrals
  • Have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Explore and provide new resources in response to emerging client needs
  • Have strong organizational, time management, coaching, networking, and administration skills
  • Be knowledgeable of social, environmental, employment, and cultural issues affecting diverse ethnic groups
  • Promote program and develop partnerships within the community
  • Have knowledge of and make use of community, government, employment and training resources and labour market information
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, to support clients from diverse backgrounds

People Management

  • Responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of all staff and volunteers working within the programs
  • Provide orientation and training on policies and procedures to new staff members for programs and services offered by Polycultural
  • Leads and creates opportunities that builds a holistic staff team
  • Responsible for monitoring and authorizing staff payrolls and vacations in cooperation with HR Director
  • Ensures that staff and volunteers follow proper professional and ethical conduct when dealing with clients

Financial Management

  • Manage site budget effectively and cooperate with Director of Finance and Administration
  • Prepare, review and authorize all Purchase Orders to the assigned programs and site
  • Responsible for managing all administrative work on the site as per organization's guidelines and policies

Risk Management

  • Implements and monitors outcomes and success rates to ensure compliance with funding agreements and cooperate with Director of Programs Development & Strategic Partnerships.
  • Actively monitors all areas to mitigate any risk associated within the scope of responsibilities and take necessary corrective action
  • Being flexible for site rotation as per organization request
  • Other operational duties as assigned

Business Development

  • Research new funding opportunities for programs and initiatives for the assigned site and develops proposals in consultation with Executive Director and in collaboration with Director of Programs Development & Strategic Partnerships
  • Works with educational institutions to recruit students/interns for placement, in order to strengthen the work of the organization

Facility Management

  • Liaises with landlord(s), suppliers and other contractors to ensure the effective management of the program site
