Description
Tanx Transport is looking for a strong experienced and knowledgeable dispatcher who does much more than manage the phone.


You will need to position yourself as the reliable point of contact that can successfully balance the drivers and safety with customer requirements.

This can be a complicated and frustrating logístical process and requires a good deal of planning and experience.

An essential part of your job will be to coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective as a company.

This means you'll try to combine shipments based on their routes and timelines, to minimize how many trucks and drivers are out, and maximize routing for each load.


Responsibilities:


  • Able to book loads independently. Making plans to ensure coverage of these loads by delivering on time.
  • Knowledge of the market rates and ability to negotiate.
  • Knowledge of LTL bookings is an asset.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with customers.
  • Plans and coordinates pickups/deliveries already entered the system to ensure that they will be completed on time.
  • Establishes proactive communication with drivers for better planning.
  • Carries out methodical monitoring of drivers and equipment to maximize their use/limit waiting time.
  • Make sure to take note in the system of all information relevant to pickups and deliveries.
  • Verification of the routes of each driver to plan departures and destinations.
  • Demonstrates respect and fairness in dealing with drivers.
  • Monitor any sudden work or order schedule changes or road construction issues along with weather conditions and work with drivers to establish new reroutes for timely delivery.
  • Teamwork.
  • Provides after hours oncall service during the week and weekends. Performs other duties as required.
  • Notify your manager when abnormal situations arise at the operational or customer levels.

Skills/Abilities:


  • Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act
  • Very good geographic knowledge appropriate to the region (s) concerned.

Requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years of dispatching experience within the transportation industry.
  • Completed minimum postsecondary education.
  • Broad understanding of operations and willingness to put knowledge to use.
  • Mature and willingness to work.
  • Computer proficient: MS Office (Excel & Outlook)

Salary:
$55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
