Position Description:

The
Inventory Co-Ordinator position oversees the forecasting, replenishment and distribution of inventory for the Nutrition and Food Service department.


Here's What You Get to Do

  • Develops realistic inventory levels through evaluation of product need and turnover.
  • Identifies nonmoving and surplus inventory and initiates appropriate corrective/disposal action.
  • Consults with various users in the department to ensure that the optimization of inventory is well established while ensuring appropriate inventory levels are maintained to avoid shortages with minimum investment therefore reducing carrying costs.
  • Responsible for managing a total inventory of approximately $700,000 annually, consisting of 1300 products.
  • Conducts monthly and annual reviews of inventory performance objectives in concert with departmental objectives. Objectives include targeted investment levels, service levels, inventory turns and forecast accuracy.
  • Develops and implements functional/system policies and procedures pertaining to inventory management, ensuring efficient use of resources and maximizing customer service. Continually reviews, recommends and implements process improvements to eliminate non valueadded activities.
  • Works with departmental managers to source new and innovative products in response to customer requests and changing menu options.
  • Ensures that products are received and stored below 4¿C, adheres to HACCP principles regarding food handling. Follows the department guidelines for any high risk items.
  • Determines appropriate procurement action based on forecast requirements to maintain high customer service and optimize inventory investment by managing deletions and additions to the departments main inventory listings.
  • Responsible for overseeing the receiving function of the department, including managing surplus/shorts on invoices with the supplier.
  • Consults with various outside suppliers on stock requirement issues to ensure they meet the need of HSC.
  • Works with suppliers to ensure on time delivery of products is achieved and develops actions plans to address shortfalls of critical items.
  • Prepares an accurate monthly inventory report

Here's What You Need:


  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma. Some post secondary courses related to inventory management would be an asset.
  • Food Handlers Certification Program is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in an inventory management setting. A strong supervisory background is an asset.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) and work in a team environment.
