This position will assume responsibility for the monitoring of documentation both paper-based and/or electronic to ensure compliance to established standards.

The duties of this position include the detailed clinical analysis of emergency records, in-patient and one-day stay discharge records (electronic and/or paper-based) and the identification and maintenance of patient chart deficiencies in order to facilitate accurate and complete coding and continuing patient care.

The position requires frequent interaction with Professional staff (Physicians, Dentists, Midwives) and their office support staff on related health information management issues to ensure consistent and timely processing of patient records.


Rate of Pay:
$24.01 per hour - $30.00 per hour

Status:
Temporary Full-Time (end date December 31st, 2023)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week


Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of 2year Diploma in Health Information Management
  • Certified Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
  • Minimum 6 months of recent and relevant experience
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Proficiency computer skills, including Cerner, OPIS and other internal websites
  • Demonstrated detailed knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
  • Demonstrated excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated advanced flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:


  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
