Outreach Worker - Kitchen


Based at:

Tegler Youth Centre


Reports to:

Program Manager - Tegler Youth Centre


Hours of work:
PART TIME.
Shifts will vary from 7am-12pm and 7am-3pm. Monday-Friday. Up to 25 hrs/week.


Wage:

$15/hour + 4% Vacation Pay


Hope Mission is a non-denominational Christian inner-city rescue mission based in Edmonton, Alberta. Hope Mission also has branches in Calgary, Red Deer, Wetaskiwin, and 2 summer camps.

Job Summary:


A Kitchen Outreach worker at the Tegler Youth Centre will work with the kitchen team to prep and deliver bagged lunches to schools as part of the School Nutrition Program, and deliver monthly food hampers to families.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide snacks and meals for children & youth
  • Make and deliver bagged lunches to Edmonton schools
  • Make and deliver food hampers to families in north Edmonton
  • Responsible for set up and cleanup of kitchen space
  • Build rapport with volunteers, schools, and community partners
  • Support Tegler Youth Centre special events for children, youth and families as needed
  • Other related tasks and duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:


- Class 5 Driver's License

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long hours.
  • Excellent communicator
  • 12 years of experience working in a kitchen not required but an asset
  • Experience driving a 12 passenger/cargo van not required but an asset
  • Standard First Aid certification not required but an asset
