Job Summary:


The Recruiter:

Participates in local recruitment initiatives and fairs along with other post-secondary institutions.

Delivers high-energy, engaging presentations at learning centres, high schools, and post-secondary events.


Establishes and nurtures community relationships, specifically with local high schools and parents, to ensure students are communicated to effectively, professionally, and regularly.

Identifies recruitment opportunities and trends in the prospective student population.

Participates in the development of cohesive and integrated student recruitment programs to engage future students and their supporters.


Develops, strategizes, and assists in the designing of recruitment materials, including but not limited to the University Viewbook, Future Students website, recruitment presentations, and counsellor e-newsletters.

Reports on and evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment activities and materials.

Plans, attends, and supports on-campus recruitment activities and open-house events.

Assists individual instructional departments and programs to plan and implement targeted recruitment activities.

Coordinates the Student Navigator program. Schedules and provides support and leadership to student campus tour guides.

Remains current on admissions requirements, program changes, administrative policies, and student services.

Working in conjunction with UFV's Indigenous Student Centre, supports the recruitment and transition of Indigenous students.


Liaises with campus partners such as Admissions and Advising to promote, initiate, and/or coordinate activities aimed at supporting prospective students' admission to UFV.


Uses best practices and current developments in Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) as a foundational framework to inform their professional practice.


Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Minimum 2 years related experience in a post-secondary environment, and/or equivalent recruitment, sales experience.

Excellent public speaking skills and polished presentation skills required.

Ability to relate and present energetically and effectively to secondary school students and other prospective students and audiences.

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Good computer skills including ability to use the internet, MS Office, and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with social media platforms.

Proactive, self-starter, willing to take initiative and manage multiple responsibilities and tasks.

A proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively amongst varying departments.

Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the comprehensiveness of UFV program/instructional offerings.


Demonstrated knowledge of the many social, cultural, and economic issues which affect individual's access to and persistence in post-secondary education, including an awareness of the unique barriers and challenges Indigenous students experience as well as a familiarity with the principles of EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion).

Applicants with demonstrated success in working with diverse populations preferred.

Able to uphold confidentiality in accordance with provincial freedom of information and privacy act.

Ability to lift, load, and transport display and presentation equipment and materials.

Ability to travel extensively including travel occurring outside of UFV's normal hours of work.
