About You / What We Are Looking For

The City of Coquitlam is currently recruiting a Community Policing Supervisor to join the Police Division in our Community Safety Department.

This is a civilian supervisory role located at the Coquitlam RCMP Detachment.

The incumbent in this role will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating civilian RCMP staff as well as volunteers in support of the services and programs we offer at multiple community police offices.

Programs offered include crime prevention and reduction strategies in the community, community engagement, and community access to policing services through our community police offices.

This role is also responsible for managing the overall community policing budget, planning, organizing and hosting events within the community, the creation of related policies and procedures, training of staff and volunteers, recommending new outreach and prevention programs to senior management, and working closely with RCMP members as well as various internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications:

The ideal applicant will have thorough knowledge of RCMP law enforcement practices and of the operational policing needs and requirements as well as considerable knowledge of community policies and crime preventions programs and strategies.

They will also be able to demonstrate discretion and professionalism in the handling of sensitive and confidential information, while working with various internal and external partners.

Sounds knowledge of community based community policing programs, along with effective supervisory and communications skills in overseeing, coaching and training staff and volunteers, would benefit the incumbent in this role.

Experience working with police databases such as PRIME, CPIC and JUSTIN and knowledge about the Criminal Code of Canada would also be considered assets.


What We Offer:
This position has an hourly rate range of $ $43.82. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
