Duties:


Reporting to the Manger, Academic Pathways & Partnerships, the incumbent is responsible for guiding and supporting learners in all areas of retention and completion of academic upgrading requisites for the purpose of completing admission requirements and goals for post-secondary, apprenticeship, employment, secondary school credit, and independence.

Familiar with the unique needs of the academic upgrading community, the incumbent facilitates learner intake, assessment, orientation, service referral coordination, learning plan development, and ongoing academic upgrading support.

This involves responding to program inquiries, conducting learner assessments, determining learners' program eligibility, orienting new learners to the Academic Upgrading program and St.

Lawrence College, working with learners to develop learning plans, connecting learners to service assistance both in and outside the College (e.g., Student Wellness and Accessibility, Admissions, Financial Aid, Post-Secondary Programs, etc.), and outside agencies (e.g., Ontario Works).

The incumbent maintains accurate records, protects the privacy of learners' personal information collected as part of the program, participates in departmental team meetings, professional development, and community outreach activities, provides management support with Ministry monitoring, performance measurement, program recommendations, and report generation.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:

A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree in Education, Literacy, Social Sciences, or the equivalent in education and experience.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in an environment supporting learners who face intersectional barriers to traditional education.


Other Required Qualifications:


  • The incumbent must have the ability to communicate in a manner that is sensitive to and respectful of the rights, perspective, confidentiality and needs of clients
  • Tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to facilitate supports and services within the College and Community
  • Ability to provide strategies to student to overcome barriers
  • Ability to analyze performance data
  • Time management skills

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.

The incumbent may be required to travel to agencies to provide information about services or gather information about their services.
