JOB SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst will serve as the financial and operational support for the Canadian freight line of business. This position will report to the VP of Operations based in Laval QC.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepare and review financial reports to support analysis and decision making. Verifies integrity of financial data in accounting system. Prepares accounting journal entries related to month end revenue adjustments when necessary
  • Build upon KPI metrics leveraging/collaborating with the CA IFTS SFA and Operations
  • Support operational projects/upgrades for Canadian IFTS including but not limited to operation, financial system, etc. while playing a key part in testing
  • Invests time in understanding how the business operates
  • Assist in identifying and solving system issues as needed as well as making recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Investigate and resolve or escalate issues, on a timely basis, relating to financial data quality, unusual transactions, outstanding items and reconciliations when necessary.
  • Partner with business unit leader and/or senior management to analyze and provide operational and financial guidance. Proposes solutions for operational efficiencies and effectiveness while also evaluating potential cost savings or actions to mitigate business trends.
  • Perform variance analysis proactively throughout the month and after results are final
  • Prepare and distribute financial reporting packages to assigned business unit leader(s) and senior management in a timely manner. Ensures compliance with company guidelines and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure consistent financial reporting and analysis
  • Prepare adhoc reports and analysis, when requested
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to established company policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to gather and analyze large amounts of data at a macro and micro level
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to think three steps ahead
  • Experience working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, and prioritizing various deliverables
  • Knowledge of GAAP and audit standards
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Proficient in French and English
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Excel; Hyperion and SQL experience a plus

WORK EXPERIENCE - MINIMUM REQUIRED:

  • 2 years of related experience
    EDUCATION:
  • Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting
