Position:
This is a dual role in which your time will be split equally between Seniors' programs and Community Engagement.
As the
Seniors Program Assistant, you will assist in the day-to-day operations of Parkgate Society's services for seniors.
As the
Volunteer Coordinator, you will support and develop the volunteer program at Parkgate Community Centre.
Responsibilities (Seniors Program Assistant: 17.5 hours per week)
Assist with:
- Delivery of seniors' social programs;
- Monitoring program effectiveness and adjusting programming content as required;
- Ensuring rooms are set up to serve the programming and participant needs;
- Ensuring proper room takedown and cleanup is done by current health and safety requirements;
- Facilitating community food programs;
- Overseeing volunteers with meal preparation, meal service, and kitchen cleanup;
- Building and maintaining relationships with senior program participants and
- Performing other duties and responsibilities that may arise, based on the needs of the program.
Responsibilities (Volunteer Coordinator: 17.5 hours per week)
- Assess opportunities for volunteer placement;
- Develop proactive volunteer recruitment plans;
- Manage the volunteer database;
- Provide training, mentoring,g and coaching to volunteers; and
- Act as an advocate for volunteerism in the community while reflecting the overall values of the organization.
Qualifications
- Experience with programs and services in a communitybased organization;
- Experience working with volunteers and/or being a volunteer;
- Working knowledge of notforprofit and communitybased organizations;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills;
- Demonstrated teamwork, facilitation, problemsolving, and leadership skills;
- Resilient, creative, and energetic person with a passion for communitybased work;
- Flexible and adaptable to change; and
- Comprehensive understanding of MS Office suite, familiarity with cloud technology, and ability to learn client management systems.

- Valid safetyoriented firstaid certificate
Compensation
$21.00 per hour
