Project Manager

Reporting to the COO, the Project Manager will be directly involved in all phases of construction projects including designing and implementing project plans, communicating directly with contractors, preparing status reports, ensuring plans adhere to contract specifications.

This individual will oversee internal team members, hired construction contractors/trades.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyze projectspecific risks and opportunities; develop a risk management plan coordinating development and project execution strategy.
  • Schedule site security/amenities, subcontractors, equipment delivery, utility interconnections, and services in accordance with predetermined construction schedule.
  • Review and implement approved site safety plan (SSP).
  • Schedule and oversee inspections.
  • Track project key performance indicators (schedule, cost, quality, scope) and provide inputs/corrective action to ensure progress is according to plan.
  • Responsible for project administration and daily operations. Prepares and maintains the project schedule, milestone dates, commissioning, and closeout checklists.
  • Evaluate progress reports with an eye toward managing project risks and exploiting project opportunities.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for the project Owner based on contractor reports and firsthand observation of the project progress.
  • Present project progress, key findings and recommendations to the project Owner as required.
  • Negotiate change orders as required, managing scope, technical issues, and commercial commitments.
  • Offer technical and commercial solutions to local contractors performing project construction works based on experience and industry best practices.

Work Conditions:

This position is mentally demanding, ensuring adherence and delivery of project timelines to budget.

This position works largely in an office environment with periods visiting/working on site locations which may therefore involve travel and exposure to all elements of outdoor work.


Requirements:


  • Valid PMP (Project Management Professional) certification issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Minimum of 5 years Project Management experience in the construction industry.
  • Solar PV experience, degree in engineering, construction management or constructionrelated course of study is an asset.
  • Traveling |working from project sites will be required at intervals throughout the project.
  • Strong communication skills (effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication) and the necessary skills to interact with local representatives, clients, vendors, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Experience of having worked with clients from concept/design stage through to commercial operations.
  • Demonstrated project financial understanding (i.e. Development of construction budgets, interpreting and understanding financial reports, financial evaluations, etc.)
  • Proven track record of managing strict schedule deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage project teams.
